The effortless control that the establishment has had over the media should cause us all to wonder how much our managerial society is in no way under the control of "Our Democracy." Elected officials come and go, but the bureaucracy continues on and generally the executive and the solons have only a marginal effect and change little, maybe even less than nothing.
On a rare occasion, the curtain is pulled aside and even the most trusting of souls cannot deny something is wrong.
Since the elected president of Ukraine was rioted out with the assistance of, if not the direction of, the United States Government in 2014, there has been an ongoing campaign of different degrees of intensity against Russian involvement in Ukraine. The LDPR (Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic) of Eastern Ukraine has been in conflict with the Ukraine Government and Russia acceded to the wishes of the people of Crimea who did not want to be governed by the post-coup state.
That is a very simplified version of events, but Russia as bogeyman has been ongoing since. The propaganda war has been ridiculous whether pursued by the Pompeo state department under Trump or the Blinken department now. It has been eight years of crying wolf.
But the howling of the wolf is even more strident now. For months State and its willing stenographers in the press have been shouting that the Russians are encircling Ukraine to take all or a good portion of that benighted land. There is little hard evidence, just a trust us vibe.
Anyone who trusted the administration's word in the matter had to have been naive, but the skeptical and untrusting (c'est moi) did not have hard evidence of the administration duplicity.
Ah, but sooner or later, someone makes a mistake and the cool kids expose themselves as mere fops.
This happened to Ned Price. There he was, a very well put together functionary, looking like the connected preppie he is. Your man had every right to think he was going to sail through this presser without a scratch.
All of a sudden, a lone antiaircraft gun opened fire and Ned had to fly by the seat of his pants.
Well, that's a bit of hyperbole, but does hit the mark. No one has been calling out the State Department as they lob accusation after accusation that the Russians are about to roll over Ukraine, and no evidence is offered.
Ned was personally affronted when AP reporter Matt Lee asked for evidence. The "Trust me on this" schtick failed this time, and though Price was able to maintain composure, the cat was out of the bag.
Ned had nothing.
The video is below. What is obvious is that the State really has nothing, but is keeping up a drumbeat. It has the smell of the Russian Bounty Hoax.
Why would they do that. For all one knows, Russia is planning something, but evidence please?
This has been going on for months.
Why?
I cannot find the post at Moon of Alabama that linked a piece that the Ukes would instigate trouble in LDPR area to goad Russia into coming to the aid of the attacked. This is something the Russians can do with ease, but have held off on.
Such an action could be used as an excuse for the US to come to Ukraine's aid and to goad NATO states to be the tail to the Yankee kite.
Again, I have no proof, but logic would say, such prevarication is hardly for a noble purpose.
I beg anyone with a better explanation to correct me.
Below is a bit of the Transcript. It is where Price either truly embarrasses himself or is auditioning to replace Rachel Maddow. When in doubt, just blurt out "Russia."
PRICE: If you doubt – if you doubt the credibility of the U.S. Government, of the British Government, of other governments, and want to find solace in information that the Russians are putting out —
LEE: Solace?
